Understanding the Role of Nominations
Nominations allow managers to select individuals who can provide valuable insights into an employee’s performance. These individuals may include peers, external collaborators, or other stakeholders familiar with the employee's contributions and work ethics.
The nominations process helps:
- Gather unbiased and well-rounded feedback.
- Recognise collaborative efforts and contributions.
- Align employee growth objectives with organisational goals.
Steps to Manage Nominations
Access the Nomination Section
- Navigate to the “Inbox” or “Performance Reviews” section of your HRMS or performance management system.
- Locate tasks related to nominations under pending reviews.
Select the Employee
- Identify the team member for whom you need to manage nominations.
Click on the Nominate option to open the nomination window.
Choose Relevant Reviewers
- Select relevant peers, external reviewers, custom participants, subordinates, or project managers for the employee’s review.
Choose peers under the Peers tab. Select individuals who have worked closely with the employee and can provide meaningful feedback on collaboration, skill application, and performance.
- If applicable, add external collaborators familiar with the employee’s work on projects or partnerships.
- Add external reviewers in the section under the External Reviewers tab.
- Once you are in the External Reviewers window, begin by adding Reviewer. You will need to provide all relevant details, including their name, job title, company name, and email address. If you wish to add more reviewers, simply click on the "+Add External" option to include additional external reviewers.
- You may also see additional sections such as Custom or Subordinates, where you can add reviewers depending on your organisation’s review setup and permissions.
In the Projects section, you can view relevant projects associated with the employee. Project Managers or key project contributors listed here can also be added as reviewers, especially if they have directly supervised or evaluated the employee’s work.
Submit Nominations
- Confirm the chosen reviewers and submit the nominations for approval.
- Ensure you adhere to the deadline to avoid delays in the performance review cycle.
- On the Confirm Nominations page, proceed by clicking the "Confirm" button.
Follow Up
- After submission, follow up with the reviewers to ensure they provide timely feedback.
- Address any concerns or gaps in the review process.
Managing nominations is a critical element of performance reviews that fosters a culture of transparency, growth, and recognition. As a manager, leveraging this process effectively not only aids in employee development but also strengthens team dynamics and overall organisational success.
