During a review cycle, managers assess employee progress toward goals and objectives. To make these evaluations more comprehensive, you may want to include custom questions for employees and reviewers. Keka makes it easy to add or enable such questions within the review cycle setup.
Steps to enable custom questions in a review cycle
Navigate to the Performance module from the left-hand menu.
-
Go to Reviews → Review Cycles. Select an existing review cycle or create a new one.
-
Choose Advanced Setup for full configuration flexibility and click on Verify setup.
-
Give your review cycle a name, choose the review frequency, and click Next.
-
In the Reviewers section, select your reviewers and click +Add more reviewers to include additional ones.
-
After adding reviewers, click Next.
-
In the Review Form step, locate the Questions section and toggle it ON if it isn’t already enabled.
After enabling the section, you can start adding questions:
-
Click the Add Questions button in the Questions for Self or Reporting Manager section.
You can either create your own question, use questions from the library or copy questions from other reviewer.
-
Click on Create Question to create a new question for Self.
Type your question (e.g., "What was your greatest accomplishment at work?")
-
Choose a Response Type:
Comment
Single Select
Multi Select
Rating Scale
-
Additional options:
Make comments mandatory
Allow attachments
-
Click Save to add the question.
-
Finally, click on Save.
- You can also click on Use this question to use an already existing question from library.
-
These questions cover themes like strengths, achievements, critical incidents, and future goals.
-
You can save time by reusing questions between review types. For example:
-
Repeat the same process for the Reporting Manager section. Click on Use this question.
-
Once you have added the questions, click on Save. After you have saved, the new question appears in the list.
-
In the Reporting Manager section, click Copy Questions directly from other reviewers.
Select a source reviewer (e.g., Self) and choose the questions to copy:
-
Click Save to duplicate the questions into the Reporting Manager’s section.
Once your questions are ready, you can drag and reorder them as needed.
-
Click Save in the top-right corner to lock in your review form setup.
And that's it. Your review cycle will now include tailored questions, making the evaluation process more robust and aligned with your organisation’s performance management goals.
Important: Once a review group has been launched, questions or any other sections from the review form at the group level cannot be modified. You can only make changes at the cycle level.
