Custom Report Builder (CRB) now includes an Aggregation Layer that displays summarised data by default in the Data View step. Instead of starting with raw transactional records, users now see consolidated totals and calculated metrics immediately — simplifying report creation and improving usability across HR and Payroll teams.
The Aggregation Layer enhances CRB by aligning it with Keka’s native reporting experience. For supported modules such as Attendance, Leave, and Payroll, reports now open in a summary-first format, enabling faster interpretation and reduced configuration effort.
This update improves efficiency, reduces complexity, and ensures more meaningful insights from the very first view.
What’s Changed
Aggregated Data by Default
- CRB now automatically displays summarised data in the Data View step.
- Totals, counts, and calculated metrics appear without manual setup.
- Users can still switch to raw transactional data where applicable.
Supported Modules
Aggregation currently applies to:
- Attendance
- Leave
- Payroll
The architecture supports future expansion to additional modules such as Timesheets and Expenses.
Before vs After
Previous Experience
- CRB displayed raw transactional records (e.g., daily attendance logs, individual payroll components).
- Users manually configured aggregation functions (Sum, Count, Average, Min, Max).
- Additional setup was required to generate summary insights.
New Experience
- CRB queries pre-aggregated views for supported report types.
- Summary metrics such as:
- Total Working Days
- Total Paid Days
- Total Leave Days
- Total Hours Worked
are displayed automatically.
- Report creation is faster and more intuitive.
How It Works
Aggregation at the Data View Layer
When a report type is selected:
- CRB checks whether the module supports aggregated views.
- The system applies:
- Selected date range filters
- Configured grouping parameters (e.g., Employee ID, Pay Period)
- Aggregated metrics are calculated automatically.
- The summarised dataset is rendered in Data View.
Key Benefits
For Customers
- Instant insights with meaningful totals visible immediately
- Faster report creation with reduced configuration effort
- Familiar experience aligned with standard Keka reports
- Lower learning curve for HR and Payroll teams
- Cleaner interpretation without raw transactional clutter
For Reporting Performance
