We’re introducing Break Regularisation for GCC markets — enabling employees to retrospectively regularise breaks using approved break types while ensuring compliance with local labour laws and accurate payroll calculations.
This enhancement strengthens working-hours governance by aligning effective-hour computation with approved break policies, reducing payroll discrepancies and manual interventions.
In GCC jurisdictions, strict regulations govern working hours and mandatory breaks. Break Regularisation allows employees to formally submit detected breaks for supervisor approval. Once approved, these breaks are restored to effective working hours and reflected accurately in payroll.
This feature is particularly valuable for regulated industries where precise time tracking and statutory compliance are critical.
What’s New
Automatic Break Detection
- Breaks are automatically detected from gaps between consecutive swipe-in/out logs within shift hours.
- Detected breaks are auto-populated in the regularisation form with start and end times.
- Time fields remain locked by default (editable only with override permissions).
- Breaks occurring outside scheduled shift hours are ignored.
Employee Break Regularisation
- Employees can view all detected breaks for the day.
- Each break must be tagged with a predefined reason (e.g., Depot Meeting, Petrol Station, Personal).
- Multiple breaks per day are supported.
- Employees may submit selected or all breaks for approval.
- Unsubmitted breaks are treated as unpaid time.
Supervisor Approval Workflow
- Break requests appear in the supervisor’s approval queue.
- Supervisors can:
- Approve or reject all breaks in a request, or
- Approve/reject individual breaks within the same submission.
- Approved breaks are marked as Regularised in the timesheet.
- Rejected breaks are excluded from effective working hours.
Effective Hours Calculation
Effective working hours are calculated as:
Shift Duration – Unapproved Break Duration
- Approved breaks are restored to effective hours.
- Unapproved or unsubmitted breaks are deducted.
- If effective hours fall below defined thresholds, leave deduction may be triggered automatically as per policy.
Key Benefits
- Ensures compliance with GCC labour regulations
- Improves payroll accuracy by aligning effective hours with approved breaks
- Minimises manual adjustments and errors
- Provides structured approval workflows with full audit visibility
- Supports multiple break scenarios within a single shift
Important Notes
- Break duration is strictly derived from swipe logs.
- Only approved breaks count toward effective working hours.
- Rejected or unsubmitted breaks are deducted from payable hours.
- Leave deduction policies apply if effective hours fall below required thresholds.
