Overview
We’ve introduced an enhancement to automate TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) calculation and deduction during employee resettlement. Resettlement refers to additional payments or adjustments processed after an employee’s Full & Final (F&F) settlement.
With this update, the system will automatically compute applicable TDS for resettlement payments, reducing the need for manual calculations and overrides by payroll administrators. The update also improves clarity in the TDS Override section to prevent confusion around interim tax calculations.
Key Enhancements
1. Automated TDS Calculation During Resettlement
TDS will now be automatically calculated and applied when additional settlement payments are processed after an employee’s Full & Final settlement.
Resettlement payments may include:
- Ad-hoc payments
- Bonuses
- Adjustments or corrections
- Ad-hoc deductions
With this enhancement:
- The system calculates applicable income tax based on taxable earnings in the resettlement.
- TDS is automatically deducted according to income tax rules.
- Payroll admins no longer need to manually compute and override TDS values in most scenarios.
This helps ensure accurate tax deductions and better statutory compliance.
2. Improved TDS Override Clarity
Previously, the Projected Amount (Interim) field in the TDS Override section displayed INR 0, which often created confusion for payroll admins.
The value has now been updated to display “Auto Calculated” instead.
This change:
- Clearly indicates that TDS is computed automatically by the system.
- Prevents the misconception that zero tax applies to the resettlement payment.
- Reduces unnecessary manual overrides.
3. Reduced Need for Manual Overrides
With automated TDS calculations and clearer UI indicators:
- Manual TDS overrides are now only required in exceptional scenarios.
- Payroll admins can rely on the system to accurately calculate tax deductions during resettlement.
This reduces the risk of calculation errors and compliance issues.
Impact
These enhancements help organizations:
- Ensure accurate tax deductions on post-exit payments
- Reduce manual intervention during resettlement processing
- Minimize unnecessary TDS overrides
- Improve clarity and trust in payroll tax calculations
