Overview
We’ve introduced Deputation Flow Handling, enabling organizations to manage employee leave policies seamlessly when employees are temporarily assigned to a different country or location.
With this enhancement, HR teams can apply a host-country leave policy while automatically pausing the employee’s home-country policy, ensuring continuous compliance without manual tracking or balance adjustments.
This feature is designed to support global organizations with cross-country employee deputations, simplifying policy transitions and maintaining accurate leave balances throughout the deputation lifecycle.
Key Enhancements
1. Automatic Pause of Home-Country Leave Policy
When an employee begins a deputation assignment, HR admins can now pause the employee’s existing leave policy directly from the Update Leave Plan action.
Once selected:
- The employee’s current leave plan is automatically frozen
- A new deputation leave policy can be assigned
- The employee begins accruing leave according to the host-country policy
This eliminates the need for manual workarounds such as disabling policies or tracking balances outside the system.
2. Snapshot and Preservation of Leave Balances
At the time of deputation:
- The employee’s existing leave balances are preserved in their original state
- The paused leave plan remains securely stored in the system
- HR teams can confidently switch policies without risking balance loss
This ensures that home-country leave entitlements remain intact during the deputation period.
3. Seamless Return from Deputation
When the employee returns from deputation, admins can resume the previous leave plan using the same Update Leave Plan workflow.
Upon resuming:
- The original leave policy becomes active again
- Leave balances are restored to their pre-deputation values
- The deputation leave policy is automatically deactivated
This allows HR teams to complete the deputation cycle without manual recalculations or adjustments.
4. Clear Leave Visibility for Employees
Employees on deputation will see only the active leave policies and balances relevant to their current assignment.
This prevents confusion by ensuring that:
- Only the host-country leave entitlements are visible during deputation
- The employee’s home-country leave policy remains hidden while paused
5. Controlled Policy Management
To maintain accurate policy management:
- Only one leave plan can be frozen per employee at a time
- The resume option appears only when a frozen policy exists
- Feature access is enabled via backend configuration to ensure controlled rollout for enterprise customers
