Overview
We’re excited to introduce mobile course consumption for Keka Learn, enabling learners to access and complete training directly from the Keka mobile app. With this release, employees can watch videos, read learning material, complete assessments, and track their course progress on mobile.
This update is designed to support mobile-first and frontline workforces, allowing employees to complete learning anytime and anywhere without needing access to a desktop.
Key Enhancements
1. Mobile Learning Experience for Learners
Learners can now browse, access, and complete courses directly from the mobile app. The mobile experience focuses exclusively on course consumption, keeping the interface simple and optimized for smaller screens.
With this release, learners can:
- View assigned and enrolled courses
- Access course details and module structure
- Complete supported learning modules
- Track course progress and completion status
Administrative and authoring capabilities remain available only on the web application.
2. Supported Learning Module Types
Mobile supports consumption of the following module types:
- Page modules – Read learning content directly in the app
- Document modules (PDF) – Open documents in the in-app viewer
- Video modules – Watch course videos using the mobile video player
- Assessment modules – Attempt quizzes and complete assessments
Modules that are not supported on mobile will display a message prompting learners to continue the course on the web app.
Unsupported modules include:
- SCORM modules
- Flashcards
- Feedback forms
- Events or live training sessions
- Modules configured with timers (except supported video providers)
3. Built-in Video Player for Mobile Learning
A dedicated video player experience has been introduced to enable smooth video-based learning on mobile.
Supported video providers include:
- YouTube
- Vimeo
- Loom
- Google Drive
- OneDrive
When timers are enabled for supported providers like YouTube and Vimeo, the system ensures that learners watch the required duration before completing the module.
The video player also supports:
- Full-screen playback
- Video progress tracking
- Playback stability across devices
4. Seamless Progress Synchronization
Course progress automatically syncs between web and mobile.
Key behaviors include:
- Progress updates across devices with a sync interval of under 30 seconds
- Learners can start a course on web and continue on mobile, or vice versa
- Module completion and assessment results remain consistent across platforms
5. Mobile Push Notifications for Learning Activities
All learning-related email notifications are now also delivered as mobile push notifications.
Learners will receive notifications for:
- Course assignments
- Course reminders
- Upcoming or overdue deadlines
- Course completions
- Assessment results
- Event updates
Each notification includes a deep link, taking learners directly to the relevant course or module inside the mobile app.
If the user is logged out, they will be prompted to log in and then redirected to the correct learning content.
6. Enhanced Security for Course Content
To protect learning content and maintain assessment integrity, additional security controls have been implemented on mobile.
These include:
- Screenshot and screen recording prevention within course consumption screens
- Protection applied across page, document, video, and assessment modules
- Clipboard restrictions during assessments when copy/paste is disabled in configuration
These safeguards help ensure secure learning experiences and fair assessments.
7. Web Fallback for Unsupported Modules
To ensure stability and reliability, modules that are not supported on mobile will clearly indicate that they are available only on the web app.
Learners will see this indication:
- In the course structure
- On the module consumption page
This ensures learners always know where to continue their learning if mobile support is not available.
Impact
With mobile learning enabled, organizations can:
- Increase course completion rates for distributed teams
- Support frontline and deskless employees who rely on mobile devices
- Improve learning accessibility and flexibility
- Drive higher adoption of Keka Learn across mobile-first workforces
This release marks a major step in making learning accessible anytime, anywhere, helping organizations build a stronger learning culture across their workforce.
