Professional Tax (PT) is a state-level tax deducted from an employee’s salary. The rate varies by state, with a maximum of ₹2,500 per year. In Keka, PT is calculated based on the employee's location and your organization’s registered PT filing details.
To view or update PT details for a pay group:
Go to Payroll → Settings.
Click on the Pay Groups tab.
Select the relevant Pay Group and click the Configure icon.
Navigate to the Filing Details tab → Click Professional Tax.
Under PT Registered States, you’ll see all states currently set up for PT.
To edit details for a specific state:
Click Edit next to the state.
In the Edit Details window, update:
Location Name
Establishment ID
Registration Date
Signatory
You can also link other states that follow the same PT rules to avoid duplicate entries.
Click Update to save changes.
