Overview
Phase 1 enhancements to BU-to-Department linking strengthen the organizational hierarchy framework while enabling smoother integration with other Keka products. These updates address key dependencies across modules and ensure that Business Unit–Department combinations are consistently supported across employee data, hiring workflows, and related systems.
What’s New
Cross-Product Dependency Support
Core HR now supports integrations required by other modules such as Hire, Learn, Engage, and Payroll to ensure BU–Department combinations work consistently across the platform.
Hire Integration Support
The system now supports BU–Department combinations for jobs, requisitions, and preboarding candidates. Admins will see guidance to update missing BU information in Hire before initiating migration.
Migration Safeguards
During migration to the BU–Department hierarchy, the system validates dependencies and may prompt admins to resolve missing information before proceeding, ensuring data consistency.
New APIs for Product Integrations
Additional APIs have been introduced to support integrations across products, including APIs to:
- Retrieve employees based on query parameters
- Fetch employee counts
- Search employees with identifiers
- Notify other modules when BU–Department migration is completed
Platform Alignment Across Modules
These changes ensure that organizational hierarchy updates in Core HR are correctly reflected across dependent modules such as Hire, Learn, Engage, Payroll, and My Team.
Impact
This phase ensures that BU–Department hierarchy enhancements work seamlessly across the Keka ecosystem by:
- Unblocking dependencies for other products
- Ensuring consistent employee data access through APIs
- Enabling smoother migration and hierarchy adoption across modules.
