When you're setting up a goal with sub-goals in Keka—and the metric being tracked is numerical—you can decide how the parent goal’s progress should be calculated. This gives you flexibility in aligning your progress tracking with the structure of your objectives.
Calculation Options
Average of Sub-goals
Calculates the parent goal’s progress as the average of all its associated KPI (Key Performance Indicator) progress values.
Useful when each KPI carries equal importance.
Sum of Sub-goals
Calculates the parent goal’s progress by summing all KPI progress values from the sub-goals.
Ideal when total contribution matters more than equal weighting (e.g., sales targets, units produced).
Choosing the Right Method
Depending on the nature of the KRA (Key Result Area), an admin can decide whether to track progress by average or sum. Choose the method that best reflects the actual performance expectation.
With the right aggregation method, your goal tracking will more accurately reflect employee or team progress—keeping your performance data aligned with real outcomes.
