If a Department Head is also assigned the Global Admin role and applies for leave, the leave request is processed based on the configured leave approval chain.
Being a Global Admin does not automatically approve the leave request.
How does the approval work?
The approval depends on how the leave approval chain is configured for the employee.
If the Department Head is configured as an approver in the approval chain, and the Department Head is also the Global Admin, the leave request will be sent to the Department Head's own approval inbox.
The Department Head must then review and approve the leave request manually.
In this case:
- The Department Head submits the leave request.
- The request follows the configured approval chain.
- Since the Department Head is configured as the approver, the request is assigned to them.
- The Department Head can find the request in their approval inbox.
- They must approve or take the required action on the request manually.
Note: There is no automatic approval simply because the Department Head is also a Global Admin.
What if the Department Head is configured at Level 2?
The same principle applies if the Department Head is configured as an approver at Level 2 of the approval chain.
The leave request follows the configured approval workflow, and the Department Head receives the request according to that configuration. The request is not automatically approved because the employee has the Global Admin role.
Key takeaway
Global Admin access does not bypass the leave approval workflow. If the Department Head is configured as an approver and applies for leave, the request is routed according to the configured approval chain and requires the Department Head's action.
