Business Unit Filter

Overview

This update enhances the Analytics dashboard by enabling filtering across multiple organisational groups, not just Department.

Previously, under: 
Org → Dashboard → Analytics → Distribution by Gender, Employment, Worker Type & Nationality

• Users could view charts grouped by BU, Location, Job Title, etc.
• But could only filter using Department

This created a limitation where users could not drill down into data meaningfully across other dimensions.

With this enhancement, users can now:

• Apply filters for Business Unit (BU), Location, Job Title, Cost Center, and more
• Narrow down analytics to specific entities
• Perform more accurate and flexible demographic analysis

Who can access this feature?

• HR/Admin users with access to: 
  • Org → Dashboard → Analytics
• Users who can view headcount and distribution analytics

How it works

• Each "View" (e.g., BU, Location, Job Title) now includes a dropdown filter
• Users can: 
  • Select specific values within that view
  • Analyse data for a subset of employees

Steps to Use Filters in Analytics

Step 1: Navigate to Analytics

Go to: 
Org → Dashboard → Analytics

Step 2: Open Distribution charts

Locate:

• Distribution by Gender
• Distribution by Employment Type
• Distribution by Worker Type
• Distribution by Nationality

Step 3: Select View

Choose how you want to group data:

• Department
• Business Unit
• Location
• Job Title
• Cost Center

Step 4: Apply filter

• A dropdown filter will appear for the selected view
• By default: 
  • ✅ All values are selected

You can:

• Select one or multiple values
• Narrow down the dataset

Step 5: Analyse results

• Charts update dynamically based on selected filters
• Helps in focused analysis (e.g., a single BU or location)

Behaviour Details

1. Supported filters

Filters are available for:

• Business Unit (BU)
• Location
• Job Title
• Cost Center
• Department

2. Default selection

• All values are selected by default
• No filters applied initially

3. Department-specific option

• Only Department filter supports:
  • ✅ Group by parent departments
• This option:
  • ❌ Will not be available for other filters (BU, Location, etc.)

4. BU–Department linking (if enabled)

For tenants with linked Business Units and Departments:

• Filter behaviour follows the configured mapping
• Ensure testing to validate: 
  • Correct data alignment
  • No mismatch between BU and Department filters

5. Availability

• Feature is available for: 
  • ✅ All customers
• Not limited to tenants using BU–Department linking

• This feature does not change how data is computed, only how it is filtered
• Filtering improves: 
  • Data exploration
  • Drill-down analysis
• Ensure: 
  • Org structure (BU, Dept, etc.) is correctly configured for accurate insights
