Introduction
Custom widgets in My Storyboard gives the flexibility to build insights that truly reflect their organisation’s data and priorities. Instead of relying only on predefined dashboards, you can now create tailored visuals that answer specific business questions.
Step by Step Instructions
Open My Storyboard
- Navigate to Storyboard → My Storyboard.
- Click on Add widget (+) on the right panel start creating a new custom widget.
Select Dataset
- Choose a dataset such as Project, Performance, or Time Attend
- Select the relevant category (e.g., Attendance reports)
- Click Next to proceed
Configure Visualization
In Visualization, define how your data should appear:
- Select chart type
Example: Bar chart, line chart, pie chart - Define X-axis
Example: Department, Location, Business Unit - Define Y-axis
Example: Late arrivals, employee count, metrics - Apply filters
Example: Date range - Use group by (optional)
Break down data further (e.g., department + gender)
A live widget preview is displayed to help you validate your configuration.
Preview and Finalize Widget
In Widget Preview:
- Add a Widget Name and Description.
- Select a Category.
- Review both chart preview and data table.
Click Confirm creation to save your widget.
If required, you can also modify table configuration before saving.
Add Widget to Storyboard
Once created, your widget becomes available in the widget library.
- Search for the widget name.
- Click on the + icon
- It gets added to your Storyboard instantly.
Custom widgets empower users to move beyond static reporting and build dynamic, flexible insights tailored to their needs. By combining datasets, filters, and visualizations, Storyboards become a powerful tool for decision-making and analysis.
