Introduction
Ensuring your employees are paid correctly during sick leave is crucial, but it can be a bit tricky when it comes to staying compliant with regulations in different countries. Luckily, with Keka, you can easily configure sick leave policies for each GCC country to meet local requirements and keep your employees happy.
In this guide, we'll walk you through the simple steps to set up sick leave payments and make sure everything runs smoothly.
Enabling Sick Leave Payment
Open the Payroll tab
Go to Settings.
Click on Sick Leave Payment to begin configuring the rules.
4. Click on Enable Sick Leave Payment.
In the next screen you have to enable rules for the sick leave payment by using the toggle button.
Set Up Payment Rules
1. Define the pay percentages for various sick leave days.
By default, the rules are based on UAE Labor Law, but you can tweak them to fit your company’s specific policies. Here’s how the sick leave payment works in some GCC countries:
UAE:
Full pay for the first 15 days
Half pay for the next 30 days
No pay after that (up to 90 days a year)
Saudi Arabia:
Full pay for the first 30 days
Three-quarters pay for the next 60 days
No pay for the next 30 days
Bahrain:
Full pay for the first 15 days
Half pay for the next 20 days
No pay for the last 15 days
Oman:
Full pay for the first 10 days
Three-quarters pay for the next 10 days
Half pay for the next 10 days
One-quarter pay for the next 10 days
Qatar:
Full pay for the first 2 weeks
Half pay for the next 4 weeks after 3 months of service
Select Salary Components
Now that you've set the pay percentages, it’s time to decide which salary components should be included in the sick leave calculation. You can choose from:
Basic Salary
House Rent Allowance (HRA)
Special Allowances
Any additional components your company uses
Save Your Settings

You’ve now set up your sick leave payment rules in Keka, ensuring that your organization stays compliant with local labor laws across the GCC countries.
