Add Approval Workflows for Weekly Overtime

Keka now supports configurable approval workflows for Weekly Overtime (OT), bringing the same approval capabilities available for Daily Overtime to the Weekly Overtime engine.

Previously, weekly overtime was automatically calculated and processed without an approval layer. This enhancement allows organisations to introduce managerial review, maintain approval records, and align weekly overtime processing with internal governance and compliance requirements.

What's New?

Weekly Overtime Approval Chain

Organisations can now configure approval workflows for Weekly Overtime just like Daily Overtime.

The approval chain can be configured based on business and compliance requirements, allowing organisations to decide how overtime should be reviewed and processed.

Two Approval Modes

1. System Calculates and Submits for Approval

The system automatically:

• Calculates eligible weekly overtime.
• Creates the overtime request.
• Sends it through the configured approval chain.

Employees do not need to submit requests manually.

Overtime payment or compensatory off is processed only after approval.

Best suited for: organisations that want automated calculation while retaining managerial approval.

2. System Calculates and Processes Automatically

The system automatically:

• Calculates weekly overtime.
• Processes overtime pay or compensatory off.
• Does not create a request.
• Does not require approval.

Best suited for: organisations that do not require approval workflows for weekly overtime.

Daily and Weekly Overtime Compatibility

If both Daily Overtime and Weekly Overtime policies are configured:

• Daily Overtime is calculated as per the Daily Overtime policy.
• Weekly Overtime is calculated as per the Weekly Overtime policy.
• Each policy continues to function according to its configured rules.

Existing Requests Remain Unchanged

Weekly overtime requests that were processed before this enhancement:

• Continue to remain unchanged.
• Are not retroactively moved to approval workflows.

The approval chain applies only to new overtime requests and future calculations.
