What is IP whitelisting?
IP whitelisting is a security feature that allows access to the Keka HR portal only from specific, trusted IP addresses. Think of it like a security guard who only lets people in from known locations.
When enabled, only users connected through approved IP networks can access the Keka web portal. This helps protect sensitive employee data and prevent unauthorized access.
Before configuring IP whitelists
Before setting up IP whitelists, it's important to understand the impact:
Once you whitelist specific IP networks, all other networks are automatically blocked.
This means that all employees, including Global Admins, will only be able to access Keka from those whitelisted IPs.
If misconfigured, this setting can lock out your entire organization from accessing the portal.
Important: Double-check IP details before proceeding. Incorrect setup may cause serious access issues.
Configuring IP whitelist in Keka
To set up IP whitelisting in Keka:
-
Go to Org > Settings > IP Configurations.
Note: Previously, IP networks were managed under Time Attend > Settings > IP Networks. All data has been moved to the new location.
-
Click + Add IP address.
-
Enter a network name (e.g., Office Network, 1st Floor) and IP range.
You can add multiple ranges under one network.
Keka shows your current IP for reference.
Consult with your IT team if you're unsure about the IP ranges.
-
Use the toggle in the window to either:
Enable whitelisting immediately, or
Just save the network for now.
-
After networks are added, enable whitelisting using the Whitelist Enabled switch.
-
Confirm your action when prompted. Once confirmed:
That IP network becomes active.
All users will be able to access Keka only from the whitelisted networks.
Validations in place to prevent lockouts:
If no IPs are whitelisted, then IP restrictions are off, and Keka is accessible from any network.
-
The first IP you whitelist must be the one you're currently using.
You cannot start by whitelisting a network you're not connected to.
You cannot turn off whitelisting for your current IP if other networks are still whitelisted.
These checks help avoid losing access while making changes.
Impact on Mobile app access
IP whitelisting only affects access to the Keka web portal.
There is no impact on mobile app access—users can continue using the mobile app even if IP whitelisting is enabled.
