Introduction
Contract employees help organizations scale quickly by bringing in temporary or project-based talent. In Keka, the Contract Employees feature simplifies how you manage these workers—from hiring to exits and everything in between.
This guide walks you through how to access, track, and take action on contract employees in the Keka portal.
Navigation
1. Add a Contract Employee
When adding a new employee, select the appropriate option for Worker Type to mark them as a contract employee.
2. View Contract Employees
Go to the left navigation menu and click Org.
Select Employees.
Click the Contract Employees tab.
You’ll now see a dashboard listing all current contract employees.
3. Use Filters and Search Options
Use the Search bar at the top to find specific employees.
Click the three dots next to the search bar to enable Show Column Filters for more detailed sorting.
Click the Download icon to export contract employee data.
4. Review Contract Details
For each contract employee, you’ll see key information, including:
Contract type
Department and Location
Start and end dates
Extension history
Current contract status
5. Take Action on a Contract Employee
Click the three dots under the Actions column for any employee to manage their contract. Available options include:
1. View Details
See all job and contract-related information for the selected employee.
2. Change Contractor Type
Update or correct the employee’s contract type or details.
3. Extend Contract
Extend the duration of a contract.
Note: This option is only available if the contract status is marked as Completed.
4. Convert to Permanent Employee
Switch a contract employee to a permanent role within the organization.
5. End Contract and Initiate Exit
End a contract and begin the exit process:
Choose an Exit Reason from the dropdown.
Enter a Termination Reason.
Set the Effective Date and Last Working Day.
Click Initiate Exit.

Note: Some actions (like contract extension) depend on the current contract status. Make sure the status is updated before proceeding.
