Purpose
The primary purpose of this feature is to restrict timesheet submissions to allocated hours within a project. This can be beneficial for various reasons, such as:
- Preventing Overallocation: Ensure resources don't exceed their allocated time on a project, preventing potential conflicts and delays.
- Enhancing Billing Accuracy: Maintain accurate billing by restricting timesheet submissions to allocated hours.
- Improving Resource Management: Optimize resource allocation and prevent overwork.
Benefits
- Improved Project Management: Prevent overallocation and ensure resources are utilized effectively.
- Enhanced Billing Accuracy: Maintain accurate billing records by restricting timesheet submissions.
- Optimized Resource Allocation: Ensure resources are not overworked and can effectively contribute to multiple projects.
- Increased Control: Provide project managers with greater control over resource allocation and timesheet submissions.
Note: This feature is available to organizations that have subscribed to the Resource Management module.
How to Configure
To activate or deactivate this feature, go to the project section, click on Projects, select a project name, go to Settings, click on Timesheet, and then click on Edit settings.
Find the setting to limit timesheet entries according to allocated hours, enable that option.
For example, if a resource is assigned a 50% allocation in a project and is available for 8 hours per day, they will be restricted from submitting timesheets exceeding 4 hours per day for that specific project.
Setting Resource Availability
To set the available hours for a resource, go to Resource Settings. This will allow you to define the maximum number of hours a resource can work per day.
Go to the Policies and Settings section, then select Resource Management and click on Allocations to view the details.
Here, you can specify the standard hours for resource allocation per day as the capacity settings.
By utilizing this new feature, organizations can streamline resource management, improve project efficiency, and maintain accurate billing records.
This feature is beneficial if the project manager wishes to ensure that resources do not exceed their allocated hours when working on projects. This is important for two main reasons:
1. To maintain accurate billing, where resources can only be billed for the hours allocated to them.
2. To prevent overworking resources who are allocated to multiple projects, ensuring that their time is effectively distributed and doesn't impact other projects.
