The Skills Repository is the central library for managing skills across your organization. It helps administrators organize skills into a structured hierarchy, maintain skill classifications, manage behaviours, map skills to skill families, and perform bulk repository operations.
The repository acts as the source of truth for all skills available within the Skills module and provides a scalable framework for managing organizational capabilities.
Access the Skills Repository
- Navigate to Performance.
- Select Skills.
- Click Repository.
The Repository page displays all configured skills along with repository structure and management options.
Repository Overview
The Skills Repository dashboard provides a quick summary of repository usage and adoption across the organization.
Total Skills
Displays the total number of skills available in the repository.
Total Domain Count
Displays the total number of domains configured in the repository hierarchy.
Employees Assigned
Displays the number of employees who have been assigned repository skills.
Understanding the Repository Structure
Skills can be organized into a hierarchical structure of up to five levels.
Depending on your organization's configuration, skills may be grouped into:
- Domain
- Category
- Subcategory
- Practice Area
- Additional hierarchy levels
This structure helps standardize skill management and makes it easier to locate, maintain, and assign skills.
Filter Skills Using the Hierarchy Panel
The hierarchy panel on the left side of the page allows you to navigate and filter repository skills.
You can:
- Expand and collapse hierarchy levels.
- View Domains, Categories, Subcategories, and Practice Areas.
- Filter skills based on selected hierarchy levels.
- Identify uncategorized skills.
Selecting any hierarchy level automatically filters the skills displayed in the repository.
View Skills Without Levels
The Skills Without Levels section displays skills that are not mapped to any hierarchy level.
Review this section regularly to:
- Identify uncategorized skills.
- Organize existing skills.
- Maintain a clean repository structure.
Search Skills
Use the search bar to quickly locate repository skills.
You can search by:
- Skill name
- Partial skill name
- Keywords

The skills table displays repository skills and associated information.

Manage Skills
Edit a Skill
To update an existing skill:
- Locate the skill.
- Click the Edit icon.
- Update the skill information.
- Click Save Changes.
You can update:
- Skill name
- Skill description
- Associated behaviours
Manage Behaviours
Behaviours can be added to a skill to define observable competencies or expectations associated with that skill.
To manage behaviours:
- Open the skill using the Edit option.
- Navigate to the Behaviours section.
- Add, edit, or delete behaviours.
- Choose whether each behaviour should be included in reviews.
- Save your changes.
Assign a Skill to Skill Families
A skill can be associated with one or more skill families.
To assign a skill family:
- Click the More Actions menu beside a skill.
- Select +Assign new skill family.
- Select the hierarchy path:
- Domain
- Category
- Subcategory
- Practice Area
- Click Assign.
Add Multiple Skill Families
A single skill can belong to multiple skill families.
- Click Add New Skill Family to create additional mappings.
Delete a Skill
To delete an individual skill:
- Open the More Actions menu.
- Click Delete.
- Confirm the action.
The skill is permanently removed from the repository.
Manage Skills in Bulk
Select Skills
Use the checkboxes beside skills to select one or more skills.
To select all skills currently displayed:
- Click Select All.
The selected skill count is displayed above the grid.
Delete Skills in Bulk
To remove multiple skills:
- Select the required skills.
- Click Delete Skills.
- Review the confirmation message.
- Click Confirm.
Important: Deleting a repository skill may affect employee skill assignments. Review existing usage before removing skills.
Manage Repository Hierarchy
Use Manage Skills Repository to configure the hierarchy structure used within the repository.
To access hierarchy settings:
- Navigate to Performance > Skills > Repository.
- Click Manage Skills Repository.
Configure Domains
Domains represent the highest level of the repository hierarchy.

Configure Categories
Categories can be created within a domain to organize skills into broader groups.
Configure Subcategories

Save Hierarchy Changes
After making updates to the hierarchy:
- Review the structure.
- Click Save.
The updated hierarchy becomes available throughout the Skills module.

The Import option supports bulk repository operations.
Click Import and select one of the following options.

Import Employee Skill Assignment
Import employee-to-skill assignments.

Additional Actions
Add a Skill
Administrators can create new repository skills directly from the Skills Repository.
To create a skill:
- Navigate to Performance > Skills > Repository.
- Click Add Skill.
- Enter the Skill Name.
- (Optional) Add a Description to provide additional context about the skill.
- Assign the skill to the appropriate hierarchy using the available skill family fields.
- Add behaviours if required. To add multiple skills at once, click + Add another skill. You can add as many skills as needed—there’s no limit.
- Click Save Skill.
The newly created skill becomes available in the repository and can be assigned to employees.
Note: A well-defined skill should include a meaningful name, appropriate hierarchy mapping, and relevant behaviours wherever applicable. This helps improve repository organization, employee skill assignments, and future reporting.
