This usually happens because of how Keka’s penalization cycle works—specifically the start timing of monthly or weekly cycles. Even when a policy is correctly assigned, penalties won’t apply immediately unless the cycle start date is aligned.
Reason: Cycle Tracking Starts at the End of the Period
When you assign a penalization policy mid-period (week or month), Keka waits until the end of that current period before it starts tracking late arrivals or other attendance issues.
Monthly Cycle
- Penalties apply from the 1st to the last day of the month.
- If assigned mid-month, tracking only starts at the end of that month.
➤ No late arrivals will be penalized during the remaining days of that month.
Weekly Cycle
-
Penalties apply from Monday to Sunday.
-
If assigned mid-week, tracking begins at the end of the current week.
➤ Employees won’t be penalized during the partial week it was assigned.
Note: This is by design, to prevent penalizing employees retroactively or inconsistently.
Solution:
If you want the policy to apply immediately:
-
Manually change the cycle effective start date to the current day or week/month start date
-
Or, reassign the policy at the start of a fresh cycle (1st of the month or Monday)
⚠️ Changing the cycle start date mid-period is possible but not recommended, as it may affect tracking accuracy or existing logs.
