How to Manage Nominations in a Review Cycle for Self?

Performance reviews are a cornerstone of employee development and organizational success. For self, the responsibility of managing nominations and tracking progress during a review cycle can feel daunting without a structured approach.

By following a clear and consistent process, employees can ensure that reviews are fair, transparent, and impactful. Below is a detailed guide to managing nominations from a manager’s perspective during a review cycle.

1. Access the Performance Module

To get started, log into the organization’s performance management system. Most platforms have a dedicated Performance section on the dashboard. This is the central hub where all performance-related activities, including review cycles, can be managed.

2. Select the Review Cycle

Once in the Performance section, navigate to Reviews(3). Here, you’ll find a list of all active, completed, and upcoming review cycles under the Review Cycles (2) tab. Identify the specific review cycle you want to manage and select it. This step ensures that you are working within the correct cycle and reviewing the right set of employees.

3. View Overall Progress

Within the selected review cycle, click on View Progress(4) to see a high-level overview of its current status. This section provides crucial information, such as:

  • Total number of reviews launched.
  • Reviews completed.
  • Reviews pending.

This step helps managers understand where the process stands and identify any bottlenecks early.

4. Navigate to Reviews in Progress

Under the review cycle interface, locate the Reviews in Progress (5) tab or section. Clicking on this tab allows you to:

  • View the list of employees for whom reviews have been launched.

This is where managers can focus their efforts on ensuring all eligible employees are included and their reviews are moving forward as expected.

5. Validate and Manage Nominations

Within the Reviews in Progress list:

  • Examine the list of employees included in the review cycle. If any of the nominations are pending on yourself, you can manage the nominations by selecting the "Nominate Reviewers" (7) option. Additionally, you can check the status of any outstanding nominations in the "Waiting On" (6) tab.

  • Choose peers under the Peers tab and external reviewers by clicking the "+Add" option located under the External Reviewers tab.

  • Once you are in the External Reviewers window, begin by adding Reviewer 1. You will need to provide all relevant details, including their name, job title, company name, and email address. If you wish to add more reviewers, simply click on the "+Add External" option to include additional external reviewers. At last, click on the Submit option.

  • On the Verify and Submit page, proceed by clicking the "Next" button.

  • Now click on the Submit option to finalize the nomination process.

Why This Process Matters

Effective management of nominations during a review cycle is crucial for:

  • Employee Development: Ensuring every eligible employee gets an opportunity for feedback and growth.
  • Fairness and Transparency: Building trust within the team by making data-driven and unbiased decisions.
  • Organizational Alignment: Supporting the company’s goals by identifying top performers and potential leaders.

By following these structured steps, employees can ensure the review cycle is executed smoothly, benefiting both employees and the organization.

Conclusion

Managing nominations for a review cycle might seem like a straightforward task, but it requires attention to detail, effective communication, and timely follow-ups. By leveraging the tools and processes outlined above, organizations can transform this responsibility into a valuable exercise that drives individual and their success.
