Enhanced Role Change Versioning: Accurate Project Revenue Tracking

Keka's new Role Change Versioning feature ensures precise tracking of project revenue by preserving historical role and billing rate data. This update addresses the limitations of previous systems that could lead to inaccurate financial analysis.

Why We Introduced This Feature

Previously, the system relied solely on the current role and rate to calculate project revenue, which could be misleading in cases where roles or rates changed over time. The new feature addresses this by capturing historical data, providing a more accurate representation of project financials.

How the Feature Works

  • Change Role and Rate: Users can modify the role and billing rate for a team member from a specific "effective from" date.
  • Preserve Historical Data: The system retains previous allocation changes related to cost and role.
  • Accurate Calculations: The system utilizes historical information to calculate revenue, billing amounts, and margins more precisely.
  • Enhanced Visibility: View historical role and billing rate data for each employee within a project.

Benefits

  • Accurate Revenue Calculation: Ensures precise project revenue calculations based on historical data.
  • Improved Financial Analysis: Gain a more accurate understanding of project profitability.
  • Enhanced Decision Making: Make informed decisions based on reliable financial data.
  • Enhanced Transparency: Track changes in role and billing rates over time.

Steps to Access the Feature

  1. Navigate to the Project: Within a specific project, go to the "Team" tab.
  2. Select Employee: Click on the three-dot menu next to the employee whose role or rate you want to change.
  3. Edit Billing Details: To change the billing role and rate, select "Edit Billing Details."
  4. View Allocation History: To view previous changes, select "View Allocation History."

By leveraging Role Change Versioning, organizations can optimize project management, improve financial accuracy, and make data-driven decisions.
