Understanding the Cost and Margin Charts

Keka PSA offers four key cost and margin charts:

  • Timeline of Clients: This bar chart provides a detailed breakdown of monthly, quarterly, or yearly costs, gross profit, and gross margin % for clients within a specified date range. By default, the chart displays data from the past year and only includes clients for whom an invoice has been generated.

The cost data is derived from the inputted cost for resources in the Resources > Cost section. Gross profit is calculated by subtracting the cost from the revenue earned. Gross margin is then calculated as the percentage of Gross profit divided by Cost.

Additionally, a table above the chart displays Revenue, Cost, Profit, Gross Margin, and Revenue % on a month-over-month (MoM), quarter-over-quarter (QoQ), or year-over-year (YoY) basis for the selected date range.

  • Timeline of Projects: This bar chart displays the monthly, quarterly, or yearly costs, gross profit, and gross margin % of projects within a specified date range. The default range is set to the past year, and only projects with generated invoices are included in this chart.

Above the chart, there is a table that displays Revenue, Cost, Profit, Gross Margin, and Revenue % on a month-over-month (MoM), quarter-over-quarter (QoQ), or year-over-year (YoY) basis for the specified date range.

  • Cost & Margin by Job Title: The chart provides a breakdown of costs, gross profit, and gross margin % for each job title within the specified date range, typically set to the last year. It calculates the financial data related to employees' job titles working on various projects, including their costs and billing details.

Above the chart, there is a table that displays the revenue, cost, profit, gross margin %, and revenue % based on job titles for the specified date range.

  • Timeline of Job Title: The bar chart provides a visual representation of the monthly, quarterly, or yearly costs, gross profit, and gross margin % associated with specific job titles within the chosen date range. This data is generated based on the job titles of employees working on various projects, including their costs and billing information.

Above the chart, there is a table that displays Revenue, Cost, Profit, Gross Margin, and Revenue % on a month-over-month (MoM), quarter-over-quarter (QoQ), or year-over-year (YoY) basis for the selected date range.

Conclusion:

Keka PSA's cost and margin charts empower you to make data-driven decisions and optimize your business performance. By analyzing profitability at the client, project, and job title levels, you can identify areas for improvement and drive growth.
