Configuring Approval Chains for Timesheets

Before finalizing timesheets, team members working on various projects must obtain approval from the assigned project leaders. This approval process is essential because the accuracy of timesheet entries directly affects billing. Any errors in timesheet submissions can lead to invoicing discrepancies, which may cause complications down the line.

You have the flexibility to enable or disable the approval requirement for project timesheets and tailor the approval workflow to fit your needs. Let’s take a closer look at how to set this up.

 

To review and adjust the current settings, start by navigating to the left navigation pane and selecting the "Project" option (1). Then, proceed to click on the "Policies & Settings" tab (2), and select the "Approval Chain" tab next. To modify these settings, simply click on the "Edit Settings" button.

 

 

In the Edit Approval Chain Settings window, you can review the different levels of approval required for timesheet submissions. To disable the approval requirement for project timesheets, simply uncheck the box labeled "Does the project timesheet require approval?"

This section also allows you to determine who will serve as the approver at each level. To designate an approver, click in the Role/Employee field and enter the name of the individual or the role assigned to this task.

You have the flexibility to set up multiple approval levels, and you can also specify the actions to take in the event of approval delays. If you prefer to automate the process, you can select the option to "Auto-Approve and skip this level if no action is taken in __ days," where you can input the designated number of days for the auto-approval to take effect.

To introduce an additional approval level, simply click on the +Add New Level hyperlink. Once you have completed your adjustments, remember to click on the Update button to save your changes.
