What is the difference between a Shift and a Penalization Policy?

Learn the difference between a shift and a tracking penalization policy in Keka HRMS. Understand how each policy impacts employee scheduling and attendance management.

Shifts refer to the work schedules and break that an employee must follow. With shift management, you can specify the exact timings for each shift and define the break duration. This helps employees understand their work hours and breaks, ensuring they follow the designated schedule. If an employee has a different work schedule or break requirement, you can assign them a specific shift accordingly. However, if no specific shift is assigned, the default shift will be applied to all employees.

Tracking (Penalization) policy allows you to manage attendance issues by tracking employee misconduct and imposing penalties for violations. Through tracking policy, you can configure penalties for various types of attendance issues such as late arrivals, missing swipes, absenteeism, and fewer work hours. This helps encourage employees to comply with attendance policies, ultimately improving their work efficiency and productivity. By monitoring employee attendance through the tracking policy, you can identify issues early and take corrective measures to ensure that employees maintain good attendance records.
