Leave & Attendance FAQs

How to restrict an employee from applying a leave type?

In every organization, leave policies are implemented to support a healthy work-life balance for employees. These policies include various types of leave, both paid and unpaid. Employees can request leave based on the criteria defined by the organization.

However, there are instances where certain leave types cannot be directly applied by employees. Instead, the responsibility falls on the reporting manager or other administrators to apply these leaves on behalf of the employee. In this article, we will explore how to restrict employees from applying specific leave types in Keka.

Navigate to Time Attend (1) and select Leave (2). Under Leave, go to Leave Plans and select the Leave plan (3), if there are multiple leave plans, in which you would like to make the change.

You will find a list of all the leave types added to the selected leave plan. Select the leave type you would like to restrict and click on the Three Dots and select Settings (4).

In the leave settings window, click on Leave Application (1) in the first section and move to Leave Application Restrictions (2). Here, check the option "Prevent employees from viewing and applying for Casual Leave on their own (3)." Once this option is checked, click on Save Changes (4) and then exit the page.

Now employees with this leave plan assigned will not be able to see this specific leave type when they go to apply for leave.
